Crochet Braids With Freetress Kinky Bulk Hair

I’m just here patiently waiting for winter to be over. So, I tried the crochet braids hairstyle and i’m really loving it. It wasn’t difficult to do, I watched youtube videos, did more than half of the hair myself and a friend helped me to complete it. It’s really easy to maintain and very affordable,

I used a crochet needle with latch hook (you can use a bobby pin if you don’t have the needle..search on youtube for tutorials) and 2 packs of this Freetress kinky bulk hair in color 99J and half pack of the beauti collection afro kinky hip hop bulk in color 1.

I didn’t want to use black at all but i only bought 2 packs of the 99J and since i’ve had 2 packs of the black since last summer i used half of one to complete the hair. Below is the finished look.

It wasn’t as long as i expected, guess 24 inches seemed very long in my mind so i had to do a twist out, this should straighten it out a bit. I really wanted to rock the hair with it’s original texture. I put the twists in hot water and towel dried it, i added a mixture of Sheamoisture’s curl enhancing smoothie and the curling gel souffle.(which i got for my natural hair though) and let the hair air dry. I separated the twists the next day and took the photos below 2 days after.

The hair is in the 2nd week now and i’ve been spraying my scalp and the hair with a mixture of water and natural oils like avocado, argan, etc almost daily. Sometimes i just use a hair cream on the hair, i feel like i’m getting some of the original texture back which would be just like my natural hair texture..,

Now that it’s straightened, i will comb it out to change the style. So, what do you think?
*P.S. It was too cold and white outside to get better photos so i settled for taking selfies with my smaller camera indoors (you must have seen some of these photos on my Instagram).
Any thoughts on crochet braids as a protective style for natural hair?
Have a lovely day and don’t forget to follow via bloglovin.

Love crochet braids! I currently am wearing Freetress' Brazilian curl weave in my hair. It is so versatile!
