How To Get Yellow Fever Card In Lagos Nigeria Without Using The Website

“How To Get Yellow Fever Card In Lagos” (especially now that their site is down) might seem like a simple topic, but believe it or not, someone out there is searching for this exact information right now.

If you’re planning an international trip and need a Yellow Fever card, keep reading, this guide is for you!

How To Get Yellow Fever Card In Lagos

I recently tried to get a Yellow Fever card since I’ve never had one (it wasn’t needed for my European travels), and I noticed that all the information online led to a non-functional website. The articles I read and posts I came across on social media mentioned registering online before going for the vaccine and the card—for N2,000.

So, I tried to open the website, but for two weeks straight, I kept getting the same error no matter the browser or URL format I used. That led me to search on X and Threads, where I found similar complaints from other users dating back to last year.

I called the number listed on the Port Health Services website to make enquiries because I wanted the most updated info, I didn’t want to waste time and money if I didn’t need to. I asked if there were other centres where I could get it done and what the current cost was. To my surprise, the woman who answered said it costs N15,000 at Port Health Services, Airport Road. When I asked about the N2,000 I saw online, she got angry and snapped, “If it was N2,000, why would I tell you N15,000? I don’t like this type of rubbish, in fact, goodbye!” Then she hissed and ended the call, telling me not to call back.

That behavior got me thinking she was probably running a black market operation or involved in some Yellow Card fraud (which is exactly why the e-Yellow Card initiative was introduced in the first place).
Anyway, I asked on X and Threads, and got helpful responses from people on my Threads who had done it in 2025. I’ve now completed the process myself, spent N6,500 for three vaccines there, and I’m here to guide you through it.

Here’s how to get yellow fever card in Lagos without relying on the currently non-functional official website.

1. Ensure you have a valid international passport.

Your international passport must be valid, not expired or close to expiring because the data page is required to issue your Yellow Card. So, make sure to go with your passport.

2. Pick a morning when you are free until at least 12 noon and visit the Port Health Services, Airport Road.

Go there early, ideally by 8 AM or earlier. Once you arrive, make sure you observe the seating arrangement, note how others are sitting or ask for the last person in line, and make a mental note. This way, when numbers are called, you’ll avoid the risk of others claiming they arrived before you.

3. Eat a meal before going there.

Make sure to eat a proper meal (not just snacks or smoothies) before going there. A staff mentioned that if you’ve only had fruits or smoothies, you won’t be able to take the vaccines until you’ve had a full meal. So, to avoid any delays, it’s best to have a meal beforehand.
Also, keep in mind that you’ll be asked to avoid eating for 30 minutes after taking the oral polio vaccine, which is now given alongside the Yellow Fever vaccine.

4. Pay for the vaccines you want.

Once they start calling numbers, your turn will come to pay for the Yellow Fever vaccine. They’ll take your passport, make a photocopy, and ask for your phone number, email, and address. Then you can pay N3000 either in cash or by bank transfer.

Once your Remita receipt is ready, they’ll call you by name to pick it up. From there, head to the next station(s) where they’ll note some details from your receipt. You’ll also need to pay:
– N500 in cash for a letter.
– N1000 in cash for the Oral Polio vaccine.
– N2000 in cash if you’re getting the Meningitis vaccine.

Quick note: They said the Meningitis vaccine is needed if you’re traveling by land to West African countries or to Arab countries.

Vaccine info:
• Oral Polio: covers 1 year.
• Meningitis: covers 3 years.
• Yellow Fever: lasts for life.

5. Wait to be vaccinated

Once you’ve made your payments, you’ll be shown where to sit and wait for your turn. The Oral Polio vaccine will be given while you’re seated there then the yellow fever and meningitis ones will be given on each arm when you’re called in.

6. Collect your card

After your vaccination, you’ll be asked to come back the next day or choose another day that works for you to collect your Yellow Fever card. So, make sure to plan for this when preparing. You can also send someone else to pick it up for you if you’re unable to make it.

Important note: Ensure you get the vaccine at least 10 days before your travel date to avoid any delays or issues at the airport.

One thing I really appreciated about the whole experience was that before we started, they explained exactly what to do, what to expect, and who is exempt from taking the vaccines. It made the whole process smooth and easy. It was also done in one place, so you’re just moving from point A to B within a small hall.
The only hiccup was the light issues they had, but that’s pretty common in Nigeria. All in all, it just took time but less money.
